Policy dialogue takes place predominantly between the EU, climate-change-vulnerable Least Developed Countries (LDCs) or Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and regional institutions. The GCCA+ initiative aims for informed and constructive dialogue in every context at the global, regional and national levels. The GCCA+ helps these countries have their voice heard in international negotiations. Results from policy dialogue feed into discussions under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and other international processes.
The purpose of the tailored policy dialogue is to promote a shared vision on climate change issues and to exchange experiences regarding the integration of climate change into national development policies and budgetary frameworks, by taking a holistic approach to mainstreaming both adaptation and mitigation actions.
Another aim of dialogue is to increase mutual knowledge and understanding of individual countries’ specific context, challenges and opportunities. Support offered by the EU reflects its vision and aims. The GCCA+ initiative complements and supports the global technical conversations taking place within the UNFCCC.
The GCCA+ initiative supports country-level donor coordination. This links, builds and strengthens dialogue and concrete outcomes of initiatives. The GCCA+ initiative strengthens the overall political dialogue that EU Delegations maintain with partner countries.
The GCCA+ initiative is at the heart of the climate change debate. We are active in and organise regional and global events. Learning conferences welcome climate change experts and decision makers to share past and current best practices. Representatives from diverse backgrounds and experiences also share tools and awareness-raising methods, helping strengthen collective knowledge about climate issues.
The events calendar will help you stay informed about local and global events linked to GCCA+'s work around the world.
